The Walk for Apraxia is open to all

A get-together to benefit children with apraxia of speech – a rare motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for an individual to speak – is coming to the Valley.

The Phoenix Walk for Apraxia will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Granada Park, at 6505 N. 20th St., Phoenix to benefit children with apraxia of speech. The event starts at 9 a.m. with a ceremony at 10.

Registration is free and open to all members of the community.

Treatment for childhood apraxia of speech includes intense speech therapy and sometimes other therapies to help an individual reach their highest communication ability, but there is no cure. Raising awareness is a strong way that communities at large can help children with apraxia thrive.
