Three monkeys had been unaccounted for after their accidental release when the truck carrying them overturned near Heidelberg, Mississippi last week, but on Sunday, one was seen near a home and shot.

“I did what any other mother would do to protect her children,” Jessica Bond Ferguson of Heidelberg told The Associated Press . “I shot at it, and it just stood there, and I shot again, and he backed up and that’s when he fell.”
