ROCKFORD, Ill. — A local man was arrested after he stabbed another man, who was also arrested.
Just after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Rockford Police officers were called to the 3900 block of E. State Street for a report of a stabbing victim.
When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man who had been stabbed. He was brought to a local hospital where he was treated and released. He was then taken to the Winnebago County Jail for unrelated charges.
The suspected attacker, 63-year-old Tyree Simmons of Rockford, was found nearby. He was also taken to the County Jail.
The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office charged Simmons with aggravated battery with a weapon and with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Simmons will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
