Firefighters battling a blaze at a Redwood City liquor store early Monday morning found two people dead inside the business, according to police.
Firefighters responded at about 5:30 a.m. to Avenue Liquors, located at 2147 Roosevelt Ave., and found the building completely engulfed in flames, police said.
Firefighters eventually opened the roof and spotted what appeared to be two people inside the building, police said. Both showed no signs of life and appeared to have suffered severe burns.
Once the building was safe to enter, police officers and investigators went inside and confirmed the two fatalities.
The victims' identities had not been confirmed as of late Monday morning. It also wasn't known if they were living inside the business of why they were there when the fire broke out.
