ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The City of Rock Hill announced they are promoting from within for its new Fire Chief.
Michael Ben Grant, the previous Deputy Chief of Operations, will succeed former Chief Mike Blackmon, who retired from the City in July.
Grant is a third-generation firefighter with more than 22 years of experience, including 17 with the Rock Hill Fire Department. He has a bachelor's degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University and an Associate of Science Degree from the University of South Carolina-Union.
Grant has also contributed to firefighter education, having served as an Adjunct Instructor for the South Carolina Fire Academy and is a lead instructor in multiple disciplines within the department.
