RCMP say human remains found inside a burnt car near Dawson Creek, B.C., last month have been identified as an Edmonton man.

Dawson Creek RCMP say the body of Jesse Twain, 29, was found on Oct. 13 in a grey 2005 Mazda 6 in the area of 251 Road and the Kiskatinaw River, roughly 40 kilometres outside the northeastern B.C. city.

Police are investigating Twain's death as a homicide .

He was reported missing by Fort St. John RCMP on Oct. 17, prior to his body being identified, with police saying then that he had last been seen in Fort St. John on Oct. 10. Fort St. John is about a 75-kilometre drive northwest of Dawson Creek.

RCMP in the Oct. 17 statement said Twain's family and police had " reason to be concerned for his wellbeing."
