NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — A house fire was contained to the basement of an unoccupied North Putt Corners Road home, New Paltz Fire Chief Patrick Koch said Monday.

The fire at 191 North Putt Corners Road was reported at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, and firefighters were at the scene within four minutes, Koch said.

The blaze was located, hoses were set up and an outside wall was used to access burning wires, the chief said.

Firefighters cleared the scene at about 7:55 p.m., Koch said.

The Ulster County Cause and Origin Team is investigating the cause of the fire, which is not considered suspicious, he said.

There were no injuries reported.
