A suspect has been arrested after a young woman's life was "ruined" by a hit-and-run driver. Victim Kirsty Pickering has been told it could be up to 18 months before she is fully recovered from her injuries.

The 38-year-old suffered two broken legs, a broken arm, cracked ribs, and cuts to her face in the incident in Bredbury, Stockport , last month.

Consultants have told her she will require surgery on both of her damaged knees. Kirsty said she parked her van outside her parents' home when the van was hit by another car as Kirsty was getting out of it.

Kirsty provides dog walking services in and around Stockport. Her son, Romeo, nine, and her two cocker spaniels, Franki and Fifi, are now being cared for by her parents.
