Construction begins on I-80, Middle Road interchange project

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - A new eastbound I-80 on-ramp is being constructed in Bettendorf as part of the I-80 and Middle Road interchange project.

The new on-ramp is expected to open in late 2025, IDOT said.

Nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursdays will be in place so temporary pavement on eastbound I-80 can be installed, IDOT said.

Once the new on-ramp is done, IDOT said the current loop will be permanently closed to allow for bridge construction to begin.

In late spring or early summer of 2026 the eastbound I-80 on-ramp will be closed for about three to four months, IDOT said. Paving will begin on a new eastbound I-80 right lane and shoulder.

The westbound I-80 on ramp will also see closures beginning in spring of 2027, IDOT said.
