LE MARS, Iowa —

Two firefighters from northwest Iowa are recovering after being injured in a house fire over the weekend.

The Le Mars Fire Department reported that the fire began around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. According to officials, one firefighter experienced back pain and another fell partially through a floor. Both were treated at the scene and are expected to be OK.

No one was in the home during the fire, but a dog and cat were rescued. Officials said the fire was most likely caused by a lithium-ion battery that exploded while being charged.
