BENNINGTON — A Danby man who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and causing serious injury when he crashed his vehicle into the front of the Northshire Bookstore in 2024 received a 90 day jail term as part of a plea deal.
In a deal with prosecutors, Owen Montaufray, 27, pled guilty to one of six counts stemming from the August 2024 incident in which he drove his truck into the front of the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, causing serious injuries to one of his passengers. Montaufray pled guilty to one felony count of driving under the influence with injury. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed five other counts, including gross negligence with serious injury, leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury, two counts of reckless endangerment, and givi
