CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, the University of Virginia received reports of an active shooter at Shannon Library. Buildings were placed under access control and safety alerts were issued to the community.
After a thorough investigation, no evidence of an active shooter, attack, or threat of any sort was found on UVA property. An all-clear was issued at 4:43 p.m., buildings were reopened, and normal activities resumed.
An investigation into a false report is ongoing.
4:00 p.m. UPDATE: UVA says police are continuing to investigate Shannon Library, but at this time there is no evidence that an attack occurred. The university says members of the community should continue to follow run, hide, fight protocol until an all-clear is issued.
