JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was dispatched on Monday, Nov 3, to a report of smoldering material in a combine, said Fire Chief Brian Paulson.
The department was dispatched at 11:21 a.m. to a field just north of Pipestem Dam.
Paulson said materials from harvesting corn built up in the combine and began smoldering. The operator of the combine had a fire extinguisher on the combine and an air compressor that helped clean out the smoldering materials until JRFD arrived.
JRFD responded with two trucks and seven firefighters and put water on it, Paulson said. They were at the scene for 25 minutes. There was no damage to the combine or injuries, he said.
