TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Christian and Bridget Ziegler, a prominent Republican couple whose sex lives became public as part of a sexual assault and video voyeurism investigation in 2023, are suing the City of Sarasota and two detectives in connection to the probe.

In a federal lawsuit filed on Oct. 31, the Zieglers accuse the Sarasota Police Department and two detectives, Angela Cox and Maria Llovio, of "deliberate and egregious violations" of their Fourth, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

The investigation, which stemmed from a rape allegation, did not come up with enough evidence to charge Christian Ziegler with a crime. He was removed from his position as Chair of the R
