The city of Longmont has compiled a list of resources for those currently struggling with food insecurity in light of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits being suspended for many low-income households due to the government shutdown.
Local food banks and community pantries are seeing a far greater need than before. On Monday, the Trump administration reported it will provide half of the normal food stamp benefits for November by using the program’s contingency fund in the midst of the government shutdown.
In the meantime, for families and individuals whose access to food assistance remains in limbo, city staff has put together the following list of community pantries, fridges, meal services, and mobile food pantries; as well as specialized assistance for folks with disa
