Councillor David Osmond of Gananoque has been cleared of any wrongdoing following a complaint to the town’s integrity commissioner.
The complaint, related to a social media post Osmond made on Aug. 14 regarding strong mayor powers and a directive on parking for Quebec residents , has been formally dismissed. The clamping directive was later abandoned .
The integrity commissioner found that Osmond did not breach the Code of Conduct and recommended no penalties or sanctions.
“I have been on council for seven years and have consistently tried to bring information to residents and respond to questions and complaints,” Osmond said. “My gut told me I didn’t do anything wrong, but the process can make you feel guilty until proven innocent.
