THE DELHI High Court on Monday directed the Centre — through its Ministry of External Affairs — to appoint a liaison officer for establishing contact with Ukrainian authorities while urging the Consular General to take steps for “repatriation” of a Gujarat man, Sahil Majothi , who has claimed that he was drafted to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war from the Russian side.

The court has urged the Centre to attempt that contact is established between Sahil and his mother, a cancer patient, who has moved a petition before the Delhi High Court, seeking its intervention and directions.

Sahil purportedly surrendered to the Ukrainian authorities, according to a video clip released by the Ukrainian authorities earlier in October.
