JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — Four men have been injured in a major Jasper County crash Monday evening.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred after a vehicle passed a deputy at a speed of over 105 mph. The driver fled the scene after the deputy turned around to follow the vehicle.
Deputies said the crash took place at Smith’s Crossing and Hwy 17 in Jasper County, and all directions of traffic are currently blocked.
Officials have not released details on what caused the crash, but said that four Hispanic males were transported to the hospital and that multiple charges are pending.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the incident.
