BARREN SPRINGS, VA – A routine visit to the Gobble Stop in Barren Springs turned into a six-figure surprise for James Huff, a retired Wythe County resident who walked away with a $100,000 Powerball win from the September 6 drawing.

Huff purchased one Easy Pick Powerball ticket at the store on Wysor Highway and later saw news that someone had won a major prize. That someone turned out to be him. His ticket matched four of the first five numbers—11, 23, 44, 61, 62—and the Powerball number, 17. Normally worth $50,000, the prize doubled to $100,000 because Huff had added the $1 Power Play option when he bought his ticket.
