LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department is teaming up with police in Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee, for a Tri-City Police Leadership Academy.

The Tri-City PLA is a partnership among LMPD, the Knoxville Police Department and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, according to a news release.

The goal is to learn how those cities deal with challenges and come up with new ideas to improve policing in these communities. The program provides leadership training for sergeants, lieutenants and other emerging leaders in the departments.

The academy is held over three weeks. Last month it was in Knoxville, and this week it's being held at the Galt House East in downtown Louisville.
