KINGWOOD, W.Va. (WBOY) — High school football in West Virginia will have a new name etched into the history books.
Preston High School senior wide receiver and GoMart Catch of the Week regular, Aidan Schmidl, broke the West Virginia single-game receiving yards record with 421 yards against Buckhannon-Upshur last Friday.
The previous receiving yards record of 413 was set 26 years ago in 1999 by Jeff Clark from Nitro High School.
Despite the 60-57 loss in a shootout with the Buccaneers, Schmidl caught 21 passes, averaging 20 yards per catch, with six of those catches being for touchdowns.
Schmidl currently leads the Mountain State in receiving yards with 1228 on 74 receptions so far this season, with
