NEW YORK (PIX11) -- For now, trains roll by four construction sites along the tracks in the East Bronx.
MTA and Amtrak are working on plans to keep the project moving.
It’s called Penn Access, and it brings Metro-North to Amtrak infrastructure between Penn Station and the New Haven Line.
Four new Metro-North Stations are in various stages of construction in the Bronx in Co-Op City, Morris Park, Parkchester/Van Nest, and Hunts Point.
An official groundbreaking happened in December 2022, with a completion in 2027.
The project is along tracks owned and managed by Amtrak.
“Amtrak slows us down every day of the week,” Chairman Lieber has said as he cites issues with outages, staffing, and track access.
