A youth allegedly killed a 15-year-old girl in Bahraich district for purportedly having an affair with someone else before ending his own life by hanging, police said.

The girl’s body was found with her throat slit.

Police said they were waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain if the victim was sexually assaulted.

Mihipurwa Circle Officer (CO) Harshita Tiwari said the police received a complaint on Sunday morning that a girl had allegedly been kidnapped by a local youth and his associates. The police were told that the accused reportedly had an affair with the girl and suspected her having friendship with another youth, the CO said.
