GRANITEVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) - Washington County voters on Tuesday will weigh whether a new technical education center is worth the money. A $149 million bond for a new Central Vermont Career Center is on the ballot.
Taxes are expected to increase, but CVCC leaders say it’s hard to know by exactly how much right now, since the education funding formula is still up in the air.
If the bond were paid back with the current funding system, the property tax increases per town range from a low of $99 in Cabot and a high of $420 in East Montpelier.
Interest in career and technical education grows every year, and the tech center’s current location at Spaulding High School is at capacity, with hundreds waiting for a spot.
