SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A second individual has been charged after a man was found deceased in a ditch on Sunday, Oct. 26.

According to online court dockets, Shannon Phillips, born 1976, of Springfield, has been charged with abandonment of a corpse, a class E felony.

The probable cause statement states that law enforcement responded to N. Farm Rd. 153 around 6:34 a.m. and found a deceased man with two apparent gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as 50-year-old David Costlow.

Officials later arrested Paul Ray Sartin after identifying a white Chevrolet Suburban near the location that was owned by him.

Sartin told deputies in an interview that he shot the victim twice. Adding that he asked Phillips for help moving the body and that Phillips agreed to help get rid of the body.
