ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - According to authorities, one man is being held without bail after he allegedly carjacked a truck driven by a town employee.
Vermont State Police say that they were alerted of a theft around noon on Monday near the Fairbanks Scales on Portland Street in St. Johnsbury.
According to police reports, Nicholas Pinto, 36, of St. Johnsbury, struggled with an employee of the Town of St. Johnsbury and stole the town truck, driving it off, before eventually crashing on New Boston Road. Pinto reportedly drove the truck into a power pole, totaling it.
By the time VSP arrived at the scene of the alleged carjacking, they say the truck had already crashed.
