PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Dozens of Arizona school districts are asking voters to approve higher taxes to help pay for teacher salaries, school supplies and improvements in Tuesday’s election.
Students at Constitution Elementary School in north Phoenix are getting hands-on instruction in math and reading. Teachers and staff want it to stay that way, which is why there’s a last-minute push from parents and educators to get people to the polls to vote for the Deer Valley Unified School District override.
Deer Valley Unified Superintendent Curtis Finch said if the override doesn’t pass, it could lead to teacher and counselor cutbacks, larger class sizes and the elimination of popular programs.
