Elena Rybakina qualified for the WTA Finals semi-finals for the first time after overcoming Iga Swiatek 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 on Monday.
That result and Amanda Anisimova’s win over Madison Keys in the first professional matchup of the Americans, meant Swiatek and Anisimova will play on Wednesday for a spot in the semi-finals.
Swiatek beat Anisimova in the Wimbledon final 6-0, 6-0 but Anisimova ousted Swiatek in the U.S. Open quarter-finals 6-4, 6-3.
Australian Open champion Keys, with a 0-2 record, was out of contention.
