Britain's Prince William visited the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro Monday alongside former Brazilian defender Cafu, as he began his Brazil tour to attend COP30 and his Earthshot Prize ceremony.
Brazilian defender Marcos Evangelista de Morais, better known as Cafu, presented William on arrival with a signed Brazil shirt.
William then met with young people who take part in the stadium's soccer programs, and even joined the younger ones on the pitch for some drills.
Britain’s Prince William played beach volleyball on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on Monday, as he began a five-day visit to Brazil.
Prince William is in Brazil this week to promote his Earthshot Prize, an initiative to find solutions to major environmental issues.
That will be followed by the United Nations COP30 Climate Summit, also in Brazil, where William will represent his father, King Charles III, and the U.K. government.
While Charles has represented Britain at previous climate conferences, lending his cachet to an issue he championed long before most other leaders, this year his eldest son will take center stage.
