A mixed martial arts fighter was released by the UFC following unusual wagering patterns on his fight, making it the latest betting integrity scandal to hit professional sports.
According to ESPN gambling industry reporter David Purdum , Isaac Dulgarian, a featherweight known as ‘The MidWest Choppa,’ was released by the UFC after betting regulators flagged action related to his fight on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Dulgarian, a heavy favorite, tapped out (submitted) after del Valle placed him in a rear-naked choke, ending the bout. Purdum stated that Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360), a betting watchdog, flagged the fight for unusual betting patterns, especially since it was not the main event on the card.
Heavy betting action on del Valle on Saturday forced sportsbooks to shift their odds. Eve
