YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) -- A man accused of murder was airlifted to a hospital after getting into a car crash in Yancey County.
Deputies said they responded to Twilight Way in the South Toe community on Sunday. When they arrived, investigators found Emma Gibbs Deyton dead.
Officials said the suspect, identified as Henry Paul Deyton, was involved in a crash where Emma Deyton's body was found. He was airlifted to Johnson City medical Center for his injuries.
According to the Yancey County Sheriff's Office, a murder warrant was issued for Deyton on Monday. He remains in custody of the Johnson City Police Department while at the hospital.
The murder and crash remain under investigation by the sheriff's office and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
