MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — Saturday night in Mecosta County a 16-year-old girl was shot in the neck and taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office.
Now, they've shared an update, saying medical staff told them the girl is in stable condition, recovering better than expected and making "progressive" improvements.
The shooting occurred at a home in Sheridan Township. Deputies are still investigating and are not sharing names or specific details in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and to respect the privacy of the individuals and families involved.
However, on Sunday authorities said the shooter was a 21-year-old man from Barryton and the shooting was believed to be accidental.
