ALTO, Texas (KETK)-- The Alto City Council held an emergency meeting on Monday evening to address two of the city's water pumps failing to produce enough water for residents.

During the meeting, Alto public works director Kerry Black stated that two of the city's pumps have had trouble staying on, resulting in insufficient water for residents. While the pumps are still maintaining the required minimum pressure, Black wanted to be proactive and replace them before an issue arises.

"We are maintaining the minimum pressure, but we knew there was an issue, so we wanted to get ahead of it and replace them," Black said.

To conclude the meeting, the council unanimously approved the purchase of the new water pumps, which will cost the city $17,000 to purchase and install. Black expects the pump
