WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The government is still shut down, but the Trump Administration announced on Monday that it will partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The decision comes after federal judges demanded his administration keep the program running.

Even though the government announced the partial funding for SNAP, how much funding will be allocated and when people will see those benefits remains unclear. In the meantime, food banks are seeing a massive spike. Around 187,000 Kansans who rely on SNAP to put food on their tables are in limbo, and now many are turning to food banks to get by.

KSN visited a local food bank ahead of the announcement, where workers saw a massive spike in people unsure where their next meal would come from.
