MISSISSIPPI County. - The human remains of a man missing for over 35 years were identified in Mississippi County, according to Attorney General of Arkansas Tim Griffin.
The missing man was identified as Charles Benjamin Rhoades. There was a report of a man's body being found on the banks of the Mississippi River on June 23, 1990, by the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office. At the time investigators weren't able to identify the body because of the stage of decomposition, Griffin said.
A new investigation unit was created by Griffin on June 18, 2024, that helped with the development of the investigation. The Arkansas State Crime Lab took DNA samples and sent them to Othram Labs, who ran tests through their genealogy database and found a potential family match, according to Griffin.
