DENVER (KDVR) — A former Colorado Rockies manager and player is set to take the managerial role in Atlanta after the Atlanta Braves announced his hiring on Monday.

Walt Weiss was named the Braves manager after working as a bench coach for the team from 2018 to 2025, a window that saw the Braves win the World Series in 2021 under the eye of Brian Snitker, who Weiss will be replacing.

This will be Weiss's second go at a major league managerial job, with his first coming right here in the Mile High City as part of the Colorado Rockies.

Weiss managed the Rockies for four seasons from 2013 to 2016. In his four years, he posted a record of 283-365, and the team didn't qualify for the playoffs once under his guidance.
