ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It's now easier for hearing-impaired people to experience the Albuquerque Museum. The museum will now have American Sign Language interpreters for its curator-led tours. The museum partnered with the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy on the initiative, and the museum hopes to offer more opportunities for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in the future.
"I think it's crucial that all of our public facilities are as welcoming as they possibly can be. But a lot of us may not be aware of just how we can make that accessibility possible. So that's why it's always wonderful for us to bring in experts from our community, leaders in the educational community that are providing options, to teach us how to do the same," said Andrew Connors, Director, Albuquerque Muse
