Channel Nine star Bob Puccetti has died at the age of 93 at his home in Tasmania.

The San Francisco-born Puccetti became an icon of late-night television in South Australia, with many remembering his role as presenter of the program Mid Dawn in the state.

Mid Dawn, a consumer program held late at night which featured movies and advertisements for local businesses, was hosted by Puccetti on Channel 9 Adelaide in the 1980s.

He also worked in breakfast radio at 5AA, and from 1992 until his retirement in 2007 he worked with son Chris at The Look Photography Studios.

Daughter Rini Puccetti announced her father's death on Facebook on Monday.

"Bob passed away a few days ago at the grand old age of 93," she said.
