COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Four people died Monday evening after a head-on collision occurred in Colleton County, state troopers said.

A 2020 Volkswagen SUV was traveling south on SC 303 when it collided head-on with a 2004 Dodge minivan headed north.

The crash happened near Simons Acres Lane about four miles south of Walterboro, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.

Both passengers in the SUV and the driver of the minivan died at the scene. The driver of the SUV passed away at Colleton Medical Center.

The Colleton County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the deceased. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is the lead investigative agency.
