A Riverside County sheriff’s patrol car whose deputy was pursuing another car collided with an uninvolved vehicle in Perris on Saturday night, Nov. 1, authorities said.
The collision resulted in the deputy and the occupants of the Honda Civic being hospitalized with minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
The situation unfolded just before 10 p.m. when deputies responded to the 300 block of Markham Street to investigate a report of people attempting to break in to a business, said Sgt. Robert Martinez, a sheriff’s spokesman. Dispatchers were told that one of them might have a gun.
Deputies arrived to see a car leaving the area, and when they tried to pull it over, the driver failed to stop, Martinez said.
