The Telangana High Court last week directed the police to register a criminal case against a petitioner who, during the course of his own writ petition, admitted to paying a bribe to a sub-registrar.
The court also ordered the commissioner and inspector general of the Stamps and Registration Department to conduct a detailed inquiry, and take appropriate action against the sub-registrar, who, according to the petitioner, accepted the bribe.
The bench of Justice N V Shravan Kumar on October 31 passed the directions while hearing a writ petition filed by a businessman, Ch Sudarshan, who claimed the local police failed to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Srilatha, the Sub-Registrar (Respondent No. 5), following a complaint on July 7.
