Polls have closed in the Yukon territorial election, with results expected to start rolling in soon.

Voters went to the polls on Monday to elect the members of the territory's 36th legislative assembly. Polls closed across the territory at 8 p.m. local time.

The three major parties — Liberal, NDP, and Yukon Party — ran candidates across the territory.

Turnout in the election was down significantly from the last vote in 2021. According to unofficial numbers from Elections Yukon on Monday night, just 53 per cent of registered electors cast a ballot. That's down from 65 per cent in 2021 and 76 per cent in 2016.
