Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gupurab or Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.

Guru Nanak was the first of the nine Sikh Gurus. He was born in 1469 CE at Rai Bhoi Ki Talwandi, now called Nankana Sahib in modern-day Pakistan.
Date and auspicious timings
This highly revered and sacred festival for the Sikhs is observed on a full moon day in the Kartik month, which falls between October and November. This year, it will be celebrated worldwide on Wednesday, November 5, marking the 556th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak, according to Drik Panchang.
