The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $419 million with a cash option of $198 million for Monday's drawing.
The jackpot has been rolling since the last grand prize winners, who split the second-largest Powerball jackpot in history earlier this year. Winners can choose between the annuitized prize of $419 million paid over 29 years or the lump sum cash payment of $198 million, both before taxes.
While tonight's jackpot represents a substantial sum, it pales in comparison to some of the game's recent historic prizes. On Sept. 6, two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas matched all six numbers to claim a staggering $1.8 billion prize, marking one of the largest lottery wins in U.S. history.
