Former J&K Cooperative MD convicted for forging DOB to extend service: CBK

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has secured the conviction of Mohammad Shafi Banday, former Managing Director of J&K Cooperative Central Land Development Bank Limited, for forging his date of birth to unlawfully extend his tenure in service.

According to officials, the case originated from a complaint alleging that Banday had deliberately recorded his date of birth as September 1, 1939, instead of his actual year of birth, 1934, by producing a fake certificate. During verification, investigators found that his actual date of birth was June 26, 1932.

Following the probe, a formal case was registered at the Crime Branch Kashmir, now known as the Economic Offences Wing. The investigation substantiated the allegations, revealing that Banday had overstay
