Half Yours has claimed victory in the coveted 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse.

The number 14 racehorse, steered by jockey Jamie Melham, took out the race that stops the nation, ahead of second placed Goodie Two Shoes and third placed Middle Earth.

"You don't think it's actually going to happen and it just happened. What the hell," Ms Melham said after winning the race.

Ms Melham has become the first female jockey to claim a coveted double, winning on Half Yours in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup. She became the first woman to win the Caulfield Cup in its 149-year history last month in the 2,400 metre race.

Half Yours prevailed in the Melbourne Cup with odds of $9 to win outright and $3 to place in the top three.
