KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Churches in the region are working together to make sure no one goes hungry during the government shutdown.
In Charleston, the First Baptist Church, Abundant Life Ministries, Shiloh Baptist church, and the Metropolitan Baptist Church are calling themselves church SNAP, standing for “spiritual nurturers abundantly providing.”
The congregations will be serving dinners from 6 to 7 p.m. every night until the government reopens.
Dinners will be served at the First Baptist Church on Shrewsbury Street in Charleston.
The churches are also encouraging people to grab some new clothes from their clothing closet when they stop by for a meal.
