GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A Glastonbury family was left without a home after a massive fire destroyed their home Monday afternoon, but fortunately, no one was hurt.
Fire crews were called to Cedar Ridge Road around 3:13 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire. Glastonbury Fire Chief Michael Thurz said multiple departments responded to the scene, including firefighters from Manchester, Hebron and Marlborough, who provided additional water support since the area does not have fire hydrants.
“Prior to our arrival, we had a pretty good smoke condition in the air, so we requested mutual aid right off the bat,” Thurz said.
A family member said that he was home alone when he heard a loud noise. He quickly grabbed his two dogs and ran to safety. When he tried to return to the house moment
