DES MOINES, Iowa —
Food pantries across Iowa are seeing record demand as families wait for the federal government to restore their food assistance benefits.
The Trump administration said Monday it will partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, through November. The decision came after two judges ordered the administration to keep the program running.
It’s still unclear how much Iowans will receive or when the money will show up on the debit cards they use to buy groceries.
KCCI asked Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services how much SNAP benefits will be reduced this month and when families can expect to receive partial payments. A spokesperson said they are still working to get those details.
