ALTO, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Alto unanimously passed a $17,000 purchase to fix one of three city water plants at Monday night’s emergency meeting .
“One of these pumps are out and the other one is going out. We’re having to go out there and reset it manually to keep it running four to five times a day,” explained city public works director Kerry Black.
Black told the council they are maintaining the pumps at 38 to 39 PSI. The city’s water pumps have a lifespan of eight to ten years. The water pumps are located northwest of the city, on Farm Market 252, serving 22 customers.
The city will be hiring a third-party contractor. The cost includes two new pumps and the installation. The public works director needs council approval for emergency purchases over $5,000. Black said by taking
